About Follk
Founded by two acclaimed Egyptian filmmakers Mohanad Hassan and Islam Ahmed, Follk Studios are based in Dubai with operations across the entire region with a full-throttle team that manage the entire animation spectrum from the concept generation, artistic development and all the way to production.
Our Story
It’s a tale of a group of four filmmakers and animation enthusiasts joining forces with a dream and a strategic vision to carve their solid position on a regional animation map. Their perspective to the market was different, they don’t work with clients, they work with talents, the thing that participated in putting their homeland country, Egypt, on a well respected position in the animation industry.
Throughout their journey, they’ve applied the highest professional standards in building, nurturing and sustaining a pool of clientele. They’re the definite expectation surpassers. Moreover, these filmmakers have always been thriving for impact. Creating art not only for the commercial gain but also for the societal impact. The team at Follk has definitely helped raise a spotlight on the visual arts and animations talents in Egypt.

Meet our leaders
Mohanad Hassan Co-founder and CEO
A seasoned entertainment and animation professional with +15 years demonstrated experience in the industry. Mohanad is a values-driven, results-oriented regional industry leader with an established track record of leading major animation and entertainment projects. A graduate of Academy of Arts with a bachelor’s degree in animation film directing, the kickoff that paved the way for the other achievements to follow. Mohanad prides himself with a former compositor role with the global leading, Vancouver-based WildBrain studios, adding this role to his global experience portfolio. Mohanad’s deep business understanding of the market dynamics has helped grow the company’s creative portfolio and outperform competitors. Parallel to his management role at Follk, Mohanad has worked for some of the biggest animation studios between Egypt and Canada to enrich his global market expertise.
Islam Ahmed Co-founder & Chief Creative Officer
Islam is an award-winning chief creative officer of Follk Studios. Managing, directing and steering all the creative and artistic output of the company. A film director who’s in full control of the company’s entire creative, directing and screenwriting operations. Islam collaborated and has actively helped develop the story and characters of Follk original productions. Islam manages a diverse team of art directors, production directors and animation directors. Islam’s creations have been shown in most of the global film and animation festivals.
Amgad Abdel Mohsen Animations Director
Amgad is a professional animator and a renowned artist with 15+ years of experience in the creative industry. He has been the lead animator on a variety of films, commercials and other animation projects that gained regional attention. Amgad is a graduate of the Egyptian Academy of Arts, the Cinema institute. His specialties include character animation, sequence direction, pre-visualization and motion graphics. His professional experience kicked off as a 2D animator making his way to the top, passing by being an animation supervisor till being the director of animations at our studios. Moreover, Amgad is a well-rounded animation instructor for Follk School, ITI, Motion Camp and Movart. He’s also the creator of ‘Animay’, a social media challenge started back in 2017 and considered as the leading annual animation competition for the industry to create a series of animation shots during the month of May each year.
